Frequently Asked Questions about the MCSD Tech Expo 

1.  Can teachers submit projects?

     All projects to be judged should be created and developed by students.  At your booth, you may have a      teacher project, put you should focus on displaying student projects, not teacher work.  The purpose of the Tech Expo is to showcase student work. 

 

2.  Can more than one person be at the booth to answer questions?

     Yes, more than one person may help at the booth and we encourage you to have students at the booth      to answer questions help witht he operation of the equipment.

 

3.  How big will the table be at the booth?

     The table will be a standard 6 ft. table. 

 

4.  Can equipment be left after the school set it up.

     Security will be provided but each school will need to have someone at their booth after the expo starts.

 

 

5.  How much physical space will each booth have?

 

6.  How are we advertising this event?

     There is a committee in charge of this.  Valerie Fuller will also be communicating to the public.

 

7.  What exactly is being judged?

     There are two types of judging to take place:  1) the student projects that are submitted for judging, 2)       the booths that each school will set up. The only one that is mandatory this year is the booth judging.

 

8.  When will the contest winners be announced?

     Details will be forthcoming.

12. What about extension cords and power strips?

Those will not be provided...schools will need to bring their own

 

13. How will the booths be set up?

Each school will have a 6 ft. table on which to set up materials. Schools can design and display materials as they wish.

 

14. Will schools be able to tape/adhere materials to the walls at the Expo?

We will check on this and post the answer as soon as we know.

 

15. Can projects be similar to those created for the Georgia Movie Academy?

Yes, the judging rubrics for theTechnology Expo were adapted from those used in other contests in which our schools have participated.

 

 16.  Do websites have to be on CDs?

     For project judging they do not have to be on a CD.  For showcasing the students' work at the expo, however,, you will want to bring  a copy of the website on a CD  just in case there are technical problems.

 

17.  Can Pre-K participate?

     Yes, they can participate in the K-5 category.

 

18.  Do schools have to have students at the booth?

       No,  but we encourage you to have students at your booth helping to explain and demonstrate the projects.

 

19. What did you say about the contest part of the expo?  Do projects need to be turned in early to be onsidered for judging?

If you want projects judged, they are due to the MCSD Technology Academy by 5:00PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2009. This is to allow time for judging and other prep.
