- Language Arts- Have students use Paint to create a picture book around a story, theme, holiday, etc. Each student could contribute 1 page to the book with a picture and written text. Spoken text could be recorded for really young students or special needs students.
- Language Arts- Lower Grades, Parts of Speech, Have students take a digital picture of a noun, verb, etc. to demonstrate understanding as a culminating project.
Example- Take a picture of a noun like a ball, car, slide, etc. or Take a picture of an action verb like running, kicking, clapping, etc.
You could extend this into the writing process and have students type a sentence to go with their picture or a paragraph for older students.
- Language Arts- Have students write a specific kind of poetry around a theme. Then, as a final project, use the Flip camcorders to record student performances of their poetry. Students could turn their poem into a rap, etc.
- Math- Have students take pictures of geometric shapes that appear around us. Compile all photos on a tri-board for students to present, or have each student create 1 slide in PowerPoint to present, or have each student create a notebook page in the SMART notebook software to present.
- Math- After studying a math GPS, have each student create 1 SMART notebook page that teaches that concept. Each slide must provide a way for student to come up and engage with the SMART Board to manipulate something for practice.
- Math- Use Graph Club to create a graph depending on GPS being studied. (line, bar, pictograph, etc.) Students could graph favorite color Easter egg, favorite Easter candy, favorite food, sport, etc.
- Social Studies- Use scrapblog.com to have students compile research, pictures, hyperlinks, etc. on a GPS topic being studied. This is like a printed scrapbook except it is online for everyone to see.
- Social Studies- After studying specific GPS, have students write a script for a podcast for "This Day in History" or other history topic. Have each student record different portions of the script using Audacity. Save recordings as .mp3 files and store on iPods to share with classmates or other classrooms. These could also be part of the WFOX broadcast.
- Science- Do an experiment to prove a science concept. Use the Flip camcorders to record the experiments. Have students record a brief explanation of the experiment to include their predictions. Later record the outcome of the experiment. Compile this into a Movie Maker project to share.
- Science- Have students take digital pictures of different types of weather to demonstrate understanding and use a word processor to describe each type of weather for older students. Younger students could just label each type of weather. This could be used for other topics like photographing the stages in the life cycle of a butterfly, frog, etc. It could be used for different types of plants, etc.
